Community Resources for Adults and Senior Adults

Adjusting to lifecycle changes can be challenging, specifically if accompanied by health and physical change or the loss of someone close, a spouse, or a parent. These life cycle changes are often accompanied by depression and anxiety – feelings that are experienced more commonly than generally assumed. Jewish Family Service can help through counseling.

New Choices is a program that provides an opportunity for men and women, seventy and older, to get together socially, and improve their social, physical, emotional, educational, physical and spiritual well being.

Get fit. Relax. Learn about Jewish tradition. Take an exercise class while you wait for your kids. Use the free wireless internet access in the lobby. You can do all that, and more, at the Shaw JCC of Akron. We've got fitness facilities, exercise classes and personal training for all fitness levels. Not in the mood to workout today? The sauna, steam room and whirlpool await.

With planned giving you can create a Jewish Legacy for your children, your grandchildren and your great grand children. Today its easy than ever to manage the distribution of your gift across the Jewish congregations and organizations in Akron - all with a single document.

For independent seniors who choose to live in the comfort of their own homes and to their families, our Individual Support Service offers a single touch point and relationship from which to access all the services offered to adults and seniors in our community by nonprofits and by the government.
