Let's face the situation head-on. You might think this isn't a good time to ask for dollars to support the Jewish Community Board of Akron's annual campaign. The news on Wall Street certainly doesn't leave anyone in a cheery mood.

You're right. It's not a good time. But as Jews, we know there's never a good time; that waiting for the right moment, when our needs have lessened, never seems to arrive. The fact is, Israel depends on support from America's Jews for a major part of their network of social support services.
